6 Million Views

One of our past projects, created by some of the brilliant minds at 360 Studios in collaboration with country artist, Granger Smith, has recently hit a 6 million view mark on Youtube. Earl Dibbles Jr.'s "Country Boy Song" was originally concocted as a satire of country music cliches.  Who knew it would become a nation-wide sensation that would land Granger Smith, a.k.a. Earl Dibbles, Jr. on ESPN and CMT in all of his "country boy" glory?!?  Most won't believe that this video was shot with only a crew of 5 people at a ranch in west Texas. It's also the first time we had hands on experience shooting with the F3 ( which was the latest and greatest camera out at the time). Though the artist has come out with many new videos since, "Country Boy Song" still holds as the top watch on his page.  We are proud to have a 6-million-viewed music video under our belt - even if it was just for kicks.

World release of "Threads". The best 14min of your life

Releasing "Threads" to the public today marks many firsts for 360 Studios, Icarus, and Kiona.  It's the first time we are hearing of the new band KIONA since they changed their name from "Language Room."  This incredible group of musicians bring with them an award winning past and a butt-load of talent!  KIONA is debuting its first music video with not just with one song, but THREE.  It has been a pleasure working with them and watching them grow into this new band, full of passion and originality.

This music video, is a collection of KIONA's work and a celebration the band's new name and image.  But as we celebrate the band we would also like to give credit to the cast and crew that made this music video what it is. With that said, what it is, is not only a music video but a short film full of danger, heart break and redemption.  There are no words to describe the gratitude we feel towards the people who donated their time and creativity to this project.  "Threads" is a perfect example of what people in this town can accomplish with a little hard work and a lot of heart. Austin is full of talent, and we hope "Threads" encourages people of all ages to go out and do what they love. Thanks to everyone for their involvement in bringing this story to life. Take the next 14 minutes and watch this short film, if for no other reason, to  appreciate the creative artists that make Austin, TX one of a kind.

"THREADS" While keeping true to story lines and short films, Directors Wes Evans and M. Andrew Barrera wanted to captivate the audience through their love of music. In turn they created a short film involving the musical performance of KIONA and the visual freedom music videos allow to tell a story. Threads is essentially a silent short film set to the tones and beats of three songs. When an inside man gets his friends to rob the Mafia; what looks like a clean getaway turns to chaos. Leaving a thread of chain reactions no one could have imagined. Love, hate, death, and forgiveness all encompass the true feelings of a teenage girl missing her parents. Produced by: 360 Studios and Icarus Burning Productions Shot on: RED Epic X http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3331712/?ref_=rvi_tt www.360studios.tv

Baseball in slow-mo

We recently DP'd a commercial for Expressions in Video, shooting with the Red Epic.  We filmed at the Dell Diamond ball park in Round Rock, TX.  WebGem Glove Care tasked the company ( a partner of ours along with ZaneTV ) to create a compelling, dirty/guerrilla-style video, with the highest quality.  To avoid damage to the camera, ZaneFX created a digital baseballs!  There was so much beautiful footage to choose from, but in the end we only needed a 60-second clip.

Lighting was created utilizing only 2 kino's and 2 1x light panels.

The Sound of Gravity

There has been a TON of hype regarding the blockbuster film, "Gravity."  This movie showcases some pretty innovative motion picture technics worthy of several Oscars.

Most of us don't realize how important sound is to movie making, yet it can really change the visual perspective. Check out this great BTS of the sound department.

In this exclusive SoundWorks Collection profile we talk with Director Alfonso Cuarón and Re-recording Mixer Skip Lievsay about the sound teams work to create a dramatic sound scape to a dark and vast outer space environment. Academy Award® winners Sandra Bullock (“The Blind Side”) and George Clooney (“Syriana”) star in “Gravity,” a heart-pounding thriller that pulls you into the infinite and unforgiving realm of deep space. The film was directed by Oscar® nominee Alfonso Cuarón (“Children of Men”). Dr. Ryan Stone (Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalski (Clooney) in command. But on a seemingly routine mission, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalski completely alone—tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space. “Gravity” was written by Alfonso Cuarón & Jonás Cuarón, and produced by Alfonso Cuarón and David Heyman (the “Harry Potter” films). Chris deFaria, Nikki Penny and Stephen Jones served as executive producers. The behind-the-scenes team includes multiple Oscar®-nominated director of photography Emmanuel Lubezki (“Children of Men,” “The New World”); production designer Andy Nicholson (art director “Alice in Wonderland”); editors Alfonso Cuarón and Mark Sanger (VFX editor “Children of Men”); and costume designer Jany Temime (the “Harry Potter” films). The visual effects were handled by Oscar®-nominated visual effects supervisor Tim Webber (“The Dark Knight”). The music was composed by Steven Price (“Attack the Block”).
