"Threads" Video Trilogy Story Boards

To shed some light on how it all began, here is an exceprt from the Language Room (now known as, KIONA)  website.

‘Threads’ Video Trilogy About a year ago we approached Director of Photography, Andrew Barrera, with a video idea we had for our song, “Skin & Heart & Lungs”. After several meetings and discussions, Andrew came back with a suggestion. He said, if we’re going to do this, lets do something special. He suggested a trilogy video of three different songs, each one melding into the next but each standing on its own. We knew right away that we needed strict direction to make sure we could make it all work and keep the story in line, so we brought in Director, Wes Evans and began meetings to orchestrate and plan everything.

All of a sudden, what was a simple music video, had turned into a massive undertaking involving a cast of 15, 13 crew members, more than 10 locations, 3 days of shooting and a laser focused vision to combine 3 separate songs into one cohesive story while retaining their individuality. Much more to come but below are some of the story boards. All by the talented illustrator, Miguel Coronado III. See his contact details below and stay tuned for more behind the scenes footage and interviews.

The Holy Deuce Screening

Untitled.jpg

Our Executive Producer, Shaggy Welsh is screening his first feature "The Holy Deuce" this week at his alma mater, Edinboro University. If you happen to be in the PA area, you should join in on the hilarity.

The Holy Deuce was Written and Directed by Boaz Dror and produced by Shaggy Welsh

Storyline:

The story of a hard working grad student, his two couch-dwelling friends, and the virgin-Mary-shaped-poop that appears in their toilet and eventually tears their world apart. As masses flock to their doorstep and a scatological cult begins to worship "he who left it" as a dark messiah, the 3 roommates find themselves embroiled in a holy war the likes of which has never been seen.

The Great VFX in Gatsby

We all enjoy watching movies, and let's face it, if you don't, you probably won't be venturing on to this website in the first place.  Over the years, there have been many changes in how movies are created, especially when considering practical effects, sets, and props.  Unlike films from the "Golden Age," where these things were built by to hand to look as real as possible,  now they are created digitally, after the fact, in a Post House. Its amazing, the kind of story telling you can achieve with Visual Special Effects.  Take this VFX reel from the Great Gatsby for example:

My name is Chris Godfrey and I was the VFX supervisor on the film. Baz has graciously agreed to let us release this 'before and afters' reel to show our peer group the VFX work completed on his film 'The Great Gatsby'. While this specific reel was the work of Animal Logic (as my primary vendor), in total I worked with 7 vendors including Animal Logic, Rising Sun and Iloura in Australia, ILM in San Francisco and also Prime Focus and Method Vancouver. We also ran an amazing internal SWAT team that completed over 400 shots. Congratulations to all who did such fabulous work on almost 1500 shots. Many thanks to Baz, CM, Catherine Knapman, Chris DeFaria and Mark Brown - and of course Prue Fletcher and Joyce Cox.

This goes to show there are some very talented people out there, not to mention the actors/actresses... who have to to get into character by imagining the world around them.
